New study on self-doubt undermines own findings
June 26, 2008 | Issue 5-20
NEW YORK – A study published on self-doubt this week in Psychology Today
reports and discredits breakthrough evidence of the emotional ailment’s causes
and effects. While the new research suggests a strong link between people who
experience self-doubt and traumatic childhood occurrences of verbal abuse, the
report was quick to point out that the researchers involved have never been very
good at experimentation, and they probably should have asked their boyfriends
for help. Also noted in the study were correlative links between self-doubt and
self-destructive behavior such as compulsive gambling, overeating, and drug
addiction. The psychologists working on the study, however, added that even if
they wanted to further explore those links, they would probably just mess it up.
