County fair placed atop Tarot threat list

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Department of Homeland Security this week placed the Gwinnett County Fair at the top of a list of possible domestic locations for a person or group to carry out an act of Tarot.

Cautioning area residents and fairgoers of the potential for highly orchestrated Tarot activity targeting the Gwinnett County Fair, Homeland Security officials encouraged anyone who sees something that may be related to Tarot to immediately notify authorities.

"County fairs are the natural targets of this evolving Tarot threat, and we have risen to the challenge of protecting fairgoers over the past year," said Michael Rodgers, director of the Homeland Security special Tarot division. “Still, we need anyone at the fairgrounds to speak up if they see anyone who they think might be a Tarotist.”

The fair will have an increased security presence this week amid the news Tarot agents may be targeting the Lawrenceville fairgrounds.

“Security will be heavy,” said fair chairman Phillip Montgomery. “If we see anything even resembling a deck of cards we have procedures in place to immediately lock down the area.”

Montgomery and Rodgers added security will treat each fairgoer with respect and will not profile anyone because of large amounts of jewelry, ornate headwear, or brightly colored tunics. “We’re not going to panic about this,” said Rodgers. “The last thing we want is to turn this into a gypsy hunt.”

The Gwinnett Country Fair replaces the Sidell County Fair as number one on the Tarot target list this week.

“Those wishing to bring a culture of Tarot into our society are constantly on the move,” added Rodgers. “We must be vigilant in altering our assessments of where a Tarot event is most likely to occur.”

Since the announcement, authorities have seen a sharp increase in tips on the whereabouts of possible Tarot activity in the Lawrenceville area. Several concerned citizens have called to report possible Tarot activity from individuals or entire cells of people with up to four decks of cards gathering in homes in the community.
